New Video: How to Find Your Shot

Advancing Your Photography Show Host Marc Silber takes us on a fun, travel, photography adventure to one of the most iconic landmarks along California’s beautiful coastline.

In our newest video, “How to find your shot,” we tag along with Marc Silber as he cruises down beautiful Highway 1 in California. His goal: to find good shot of the Bixby Bridge. Ask almost any photographer in California, they will probably have a picture of this iconic bridge. But it won’t be easy. The light is fading fast and Marc’s other challenge is finding the good location to shoot.

In the video, Marc gives a brief history about the bridge. It was built in 1932 by convicts! As you can see for yourself from Marc’s photographs, the Bixby Bridge is more than just concrete slabs, but an architectural masterpiece that’s captured the hearts of photographers and travelers alike.

VIDEO DIGEST

In the beginning of this video, Marc said his goal was to capture one good image of the Bixby Bridge. There’s tip No. 1.

  • When going out on a photo shoot, have a goal in mind. It may change, but it’s good to start the shoot with one.
  • Move. And move again. Get in the car. Drive. Pull over. Don’t stay in one place. Switch up your angles to try out different shots of the same subject.
  • Know how your camera reacts to changing light source. In the video you can see how quickly the light is changing and fading, and you need to know your camera well enough to be able to adapt to the rapid changes in light.
  • Have fun. Don’t take your photoshoot too seriously. Marc made sure to stop and take a minute to appreciate his beautiful surroundings.

Stay Tuned: Find out how the pictures turned out from the Argus C3. We’ll show them in an upcoming video.
